Hangul Setup Instructions

In order to view hangul text on your computer, you may need to download a language pack. This will simply allow your computer to display those characters, and will not affect any other operations. What follows are easy-to-follow instructions for common browsers. If these instructions do not work for you, or your browser is not listed, follow the links at the bottom on the page for additional information.

Internet Explorer

Select 'View' From the top menu. Scroll down to 'Encoding.' Go to 'More.' Select 'Korean.' A box will pop up saying you need to install the Korean language pack. Click install. You may need to restart your computer when the installation has finished.

Netscape

Select 'View' From the top menu. Scroll down to 'Character Set.' Select 'Korean.' A box will pop up saying you need to install the Korean language pack. Click install. You may need to restart your computer when the installation has finished.

Mozilla Firefox

Select 'View' From the top menu. Scroll down to 'Character Encodings.' Go to 'More Encodings.' Select 'East Asian.' Select 'Korean (ISO-2022-KR).' A box will pop up saying you need to install the Korean language pack. Click install. You may need to restart your computer when the installation has finished.

Safari

Select 'View' From the top menu. Scroll down to 'Text Encoding.' Select 'Korean.' A box will pop up saying you need to install the Korean language pack. Click install. You may need to restart your computer when the installation has finished.

That's It!

Your computer should now be able to display hangul. If the characters still do not show up correctly, follow the instructions as above, one more time. This will make sure that the proper encoding is turned on, and will not require any additional installations.

Still Having Trouble?

Both Wikipedia and Microsoft have pages on how to install langauge packs. There should be instructions there in case you are using a browser that is not listed, or there is something more complicated about your system.
